Big Upset in Seattle

The 2024 NHL Winter Classic was one of the best in years.

The festivities started at 10:45 with a concert by Seattle's own The Head and the Heart at the Breakaway Hockey village just outside of The Boxyard, Steelheads alley, and the Hatback Bar & Grille.

Next was the thing that everyone had been waiting for. The thrilling NHL outdoor game this year's between the Seattle Kraken and the Las Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The puck drop was at noon and the game was on only 4:50 into the first period Kraken forward Eeli Tolvanen had a goal assisted by Defenseman Vince Dunn from a shot from the Blue line that Eeli Tolvanen redirected it past Vegas goalie Logan Thompson in the goal for the first goal of the game to make it 1-0 Kraken. The second goal came 2:19 into the second period when Defenseman Will Borgen slammed a shot passed Thompson to give the Kraken a 2-0 lead. In the third period the Kraken scored another goal this one by Forward Yanni Gourde which he stole the puck from Paul Cotter in the Knights' own zone so Yanni Had a Breakaway, his first shot was blocked by Thompson, but Gourde rebounded his own shot and then scored to make the final score 3-0 Kraken one of the biggest upsets of the season with the Kraken (15-14-9) to beat the Knights (22-11-5).

The festivities closed out back at Hatback where one of my personal favorite bands Fitz and The Tantrums performed to close out the day.

This was a great Pacific Division matchup. As of now the Kraken sit in 4th place in their division with 39 points and the Knights are in second and have 49 points. Right now the Kraken have a 5-game winning streak and are on fire just like the picture.
