Huskies go undefeated after winning the Apple Cup

SEATTLE--On Saturday the huskies won their 76th Apple Cup the rival game in week 12 against the Washington State Cougars.

They won in a nail-biter 24-21 with a Grady Gross game-winning field goal. But they got to that point thanks to QB Michael Penix Jr and wide reciever Rome Odunze. Rome Odunze was the star of the game with 2 touchdowns, a total of 120 yards and averaged17.1 yards a catch. The quaterback Michael Penix Jr had 3 touchdowns, and one interception. The other touchdown was to running back Dillon Johnson who had 21 carries, 82 yards total, and averaged 3.9 yards a carry.

But how the Huskies got into field goal range for Grady Gross to hit that field goal was an amazing story. It was 4th down and after the huskies called a timeout they suprisingly sent Michael Penix and the offense out there to try to get the first down. "It was definetly kind of a risky call" said Odunze. "But every time we go for it, I'm like 'OK, let's go get the first down." That's what I think. I go for it fourth-25 in Madden sometimes I don't care. I want to go get the first down. The play started with Penix fake handing it of to Johnson, but Johnson did a really good job pretending that he had the ball so all the defenders piled up and Penix could just toss it to Odunze for a easy first down.

The Huskies have the Pac 12 title game against the Ducks on friday Dec 1st at 8:00 PM ET in Vegas.
