Shohei Ohtani is the talk of the town. He is one of the most wanted free agents in the MLB, and he just won the Edgar Martínez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award. This is the third time in a row he won this award, with only David Ortiz topping him, with 5 from 2003 to 2007. The award was originally called the Outstanding Designated Hitter Award, but was named after the Hall of Famer Edgar Martínez, who has won it five times himself.
Ohtani is adding this onto his list of awards for this year, including the DH Silver Slugger and AL MVP. In 2023, has a .304/.412/.654 slash line with 26 doubles, 8 triples, 44 home runs, 20 stolen bases, and 95 RBI in 135 games. He has hit for the cycle once.
