On Thursday the Cincinnati Reds signed 3B Jeimer Candelario to a three year $45 million contract. I don't get this signing because Candelario is an infielder and they probably have De La Cruz at second, Marte at shortstop and India at 3rd and Encarnacion-Strand at second so where would you put Candelario.
Jeimer Candelario a 12 year player had a breakout 2023 season .251 batting Average, 22 home runs, 70 RBIs and a .807 OPS.
The Cincinnati Reds had a breakout season last year 82-80 record after having a tough losing decade. Jeimer might help them get a push to their first playoff run since 2020 when they didn't even make it past the wild card. Candelario will bring a good bat and decent fielding, and leadership and can be a helpful mentor to the Reds' three young infielders, Elly De La Cruz, Noelvi Marte and Christian Encarnacion-Strand.
