Where to Shohei?

Updated: Oct 18, 2023

Shohei Ohtani is no doubt a future Hall of Famer. Ohtani is a two way player who is a top ten hitter and a top ten pitcher. As of right now he is on the Angels but he’s not going to be there for long. Shohei is a free agent in the 2023-24 offseason and everybody pretty much wants him. But who is he going to that’s the big question this offseason. I’m going to rank the most likely to least likely teams he is going to go to.

Spending Favorites

  1. New York Mets

  2. Los Angeles Dodgers

  3. San Diego Padres

  4. New York Yankees

Those four teams will probably give him the most money starting in like the 300-400 Millions. But I don’t think he wants to go to those teams considering the only team out of those four teams who have had success over the past year is the Dodgers.

The Big Market teams

1. San Francisco Giants

2. Boston Red Sox

3. Texas Rangers

4. Chicago Cubs

But again the only team that has had success in the past year was the Rangers and I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of my career in Texas

The teams that he might want to go to

1. Seattle Mariners

2. Philadelphia Phillies

3. Atlanta Braves

4. Toronto Blue Jays

5. St Louis Cardinals

The Mariners are the Favorites in this category. Seattle is a very Asian and Japanese friendly city. Shohei has grown a relationship with Ichiro and the Mariners. He as also spent some time in Seattle during the Offseason and seems to like it. And I think that the Mariners have been saving up for him in the past couple of years because they haven’t really spent money at all. The Phillies and the Braves are two teams who have had recent success and hope to have more with Shohei. And the Blue Jays and Cardinals are pretty much out of the picture.

Out of the picture

1. Baltimore Orioles

2. Cincinnati Reds

3. Arizona Diamondbacks

4. Tampa Bay Rays

5. Kansas City Royals

6. Miami Marlins

7. Minnesota Twins

8. Cleveland Guardians

9. Pittsburgh Pirates

10. Milwaukee Brewers

11. Detroit Tigers

12. Washington Nationals

13. Colorado Rockies

14. Oakland A’s

Again these teams are out of the picture. We’ll keep an eye out this offseason and write an article asap after he signs.
